Soft-Structured Carriers or "Buckle Carriers" are relatively new to the babywearing scene. We find that the buckles especially appeal to dads, but lots of moms also feel more comfortable with buckles than with ties.
Most of the soft structured carriers have a two-shoulder design with a "waist belt" (actually a hip belt for women), which distributes the baby's weight evenly throughout the adult's back and hips.
The major advantage to these styles is that the straps are not long and do not ever touch the ground while putting the carrier on or taking it off.
